Dustin's Blu-ray Review
Atlantis: The Lost Empire  (2001)

The Film
2.5 Stars
A worthwhile venture that may not go down as a modern animated classic, but it does expose Disney as a studio more than willing to break free of tradition and try something a little different, for once. It's about time.
Blu-ray also includes "Atlantis: Milo's Return!"

Blu-ray Picture/Sound
 B+/A-

As with "Lilo & Stitch," Disney's "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" is only harmed by its rather generic animation, a phase in the early 2000s that the studio thankfully graduated out of. One can't really fault the transfer for this, though, which is clear as a bell and true to source. The 5.1 audio is nothing if not enveloping; this Blu-ray sounds terrific.

Blu-ray Features
Audio Commentary with producer Don Hahn and directors Gary Trousdale & Kirk Wise; The Making of Atlantis (SD, 63 minutes); The Lost Empire Deleted Scenes (SD, 16 minutes); Milo's Return Deleted Scene (SD, 1 minute); How to Speak Atlantean (SD, 2 minutes); Atlantis: Fact or Fiction? (SD, 7 minutes); Theatrical Trailers (SD, 6 minutes)

Bottom Line
Recommended.
